Summary

Position Summary:
The Naturalist Educator role is part of a cohesive team that cares for our animals and nature sanctuary
while providing experiential nature education to children and adults through organized programs and
visitor experiences. This is a part-time position reporting to the Director of Nature Programs with working
hours that include weekend days. This position is working Thursday through Sunday. The person in this role
should have a love for animals and be experienced in their care and be skilled at presenting programs to
children.

Duties

Primary Responsibilities:
Responsibility for in-bound and out-bound school nature education programs including content
development, program presentations, and planning
Shared planning and execution of nature enrichment after-school programs
Responsibility for planning and designing exhibits
Adult development and execution
Shared responsibility for public programs including Story Times, birthday parties, and family
events
Volunteer supervision
Oversight of the Collections room including specimen permitting
Shared responsibility for creating social media posts for marketing.
Share responsibilities for naturalist calls from the public and participation at public events
Other duties as required
Back-up responsibilities for animal care as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications:
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies or related field preferred
Work experience: Three years in a naturalist role either paid or volunteer
