JOB SUMMARY:

It is the responsibility of this position to provide all production planning, scheduling and material coordination for the Manufacturing Department. The purpose of the Position is to establish the exact route of each individual item, part, or assembly; setting the start and completion dates for each important item and assembly, as well as the finished product; determining the specific type of labor and number of hours required for each phase of the operation; and calculating all the materials, services, and the production schedule lead time required within the time required by the Customer, and within the specifications required by Engineering and Quality Assurance. It is the goal of the position to establish and maintain GasTech as the most respected Energy Equipment solutions provider for the clients, and in the markets, we serve.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Proactively plan and organize the activities of all internal fabrication departments, including: material preparation, fitting, welding, assembly, PWHT, hydrotesting, painting and finishing, and shop floor logistics
  • Proactively plan and organize the activities of external service providers (paint, heat-treat, galvanize, etc.)
  • Plan for the timely receipt and staging of all production materials to the appropriate manufacturing department in order to support optimum production throughput
  • Organize the flow of production from department to department to achieve high plant throughput
  • Prepare production plans, up to and including day by day plans for specific projects and operations through the compilation of customer requirements, engineering designs, specifications, and machining process data
  • Demonstrate initiative and sense of urgency by advising management of known scheduling conflicts and escalate scheduling issues timely when projects are in jeopardy
  • Provide tactical and creative solutions to achieve tight customer schedules
  • Compile estimates for types of skilled labor and the number of worker-hours required for production operations
  • Advise procurement & supply activities on material requirements and production schedule due dates
  • Schedule and control primary work assignments to manufacturing activities based upon production line or shop capacity, priority, and due date
  • Determine the status of work in progress, time required to complete each job or work order, the availability of materials, tools required, and reassess priorities
  • Update production schedules and transmit to all relevant functions in and outside the Division
  • Plan and notify all QA on outside and inside inspections on a timely basis
  • Ensure all internal communications for WIP, including conducting timely Production Meetings
  • Ensure that engineering changes are controlled in the shop, management is notified, router packages are collected and revised to reflect current revision level. In addition, support management on removing obsolescent parts from the shop
  • Expedite jobs in progress by any appropriate means
  • Monitor, record, and report the status of production start dates, on time deliveries, and actuals versus budget (hours/dollars)
  • Ensure that all Manufacturing Activities are planned as ISO 9000 compliant
  • Limited customer contact and travel may be required

Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Business Engineering is preferred but not required
  • Strong, hands-on welding and layout background is preferred but not required
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in pressure vessel fabrication, 3 of which is in a hands-on production/manufacturing environment is preferred but not required
  • Excellent planning and organizing ability and a thorough and detailed fabrication knowledge in the manufacture of pressure vessels, structural steel, and Oil and Gas Processing equipment is preferred but not required
  • Experience and thorough working knowledge of the various ASME vessel Codes is preferred but not required
  • Experience in an ISO 9000 environment is preferred but not required
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including MS Office applications and particularly MS Project, and MRP/ERP systems or their derivatives is required

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Our shop is a heavy construction and fabrication environment and our office is the standard office environment. This position will work in both.
