JOB DETAILS:

  • Starting Hourly Pay: $16.70
  • Multiple pay increases over your first 3.5 years of service

The Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown offers 168 beds for nursing home care. Two levels of care are offered: standard care for veterans in need of any intermediate level of care, and memory care for veterans with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. The home staffs a full time Physician and Certified Nurse Practitioner.

The home opened in 2003, and is located in the scenic countryside of Brown County, offering a tranquil setting where veterans can feel at home. KEY JOB DUTIES:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Under general supervision, cleans & maintains restrooms, living facilities &/or dining areas, offices (e.g., sweeps, mops, strips, buffs & waxes floors; vacuums carpets; cleans glass & mirrors; washes windows & walls; scrubs sinks, countertops, toilets; cleans & empties receptacles; dust varying surfaces; replenishes soap, toilet paper, paper towels)
  • Responsible for exercising principles of infection control & implements infection control policies & procedures (e.g., wipes up spills & fluids on floor; washes & cleans resident beds & other furniture; proper use of personal protective equipment)
  • Checks on supplies; stocks supply closets
  • Reports need for repair of equipment; reports evidence of fire, illegal entry & theft of property
  • Cleans offices (e.g., vacuums carpets, cleans & dusts furniture, fixtures & equipment; cleans & empties trash receptacles)
  • Performs any additional job related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading & speaking common English vocabulary. In accordance with Section 124.11(B)(2), revised code, Director of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
Knowledge of cleaning practices & procedures*; addition & subtraction. Skill in operating cleaning equipment & tools*. Ability to carry out simple instructions; recognize safety warnings; stand, walk or bend continuously; lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.

less otherwise required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be set at the lowest rate of the salary range with gradual increases after completing probation and following successful annual performance evaluations.

Background Check Information

The final applicant selected for this position may be required to submit to urinalysis prior to an appointment to test for illegal drug use.
