New Teacher Center (NTC) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to disrupting the predictability of educational inequities for systemically underserved students by accelerating educator effectiveness. Founded by teachers in 1998, NTC works with leaders at all levels of a system to center students’ needs to transform professional learning. The Role

The Marketing and Communications Associate supports the development and maintenance of NTC’s internal and external communications as a content developer, manager, and outreach coordinator. The Associate is responsible for supporting multiple marketing and communications priorities to help engage NTC’s diverse stakeholder groups and affirm our organization as a leading educator empowerment and student equity nonprofit.

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Marketing & Communications, the Communications Associate will support a positive, proactive environment for communications to empower NTC’s most important stakeholders: staff, partners, supporters, and the professional learning community. This person will support strategies, systems, supports, and best practices to enable clear interactions across organizational functions.

The Associate will be a key contributor in content production processes, especially website updates, executing design templates, email campaigns, supporting staff requests for projects, photography coordination, digital asset management, and project management. The Associate will be able to write persuasively and boil complex issues down to a single sentence. The ideal candidate must possess strong project management skills, a talent for multitasking and operations work, and excellent communications skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support and execute our social media editorial strategy and campaigns, develop and publish content in coordination with creative design

  • Grow and leverage NTC’s social media engagement across all stakeholder groups

  • Maintain inventory of digital assets and collateral

  • Manage and update our editorial calendar (internal and external)

  • Update communications collateral (one pagers, invites, reports, flyers, graphics) and assist with the development of compelling content to increase audience engagement

  • Provide communication support including writing and editing for all content, print and digital

  • Ensure company-wide implementation of brand identity and style

  • Assist in oversight of distribution channels, contacts and partnerships for outreach/educational content and campaigns

  • Provide logistical, organizational and administrative support for communications projects, such as scheduling and coordination for video production, print and digital campaigns/products, internal trainings and brown bags

  • Maintain content updates to NTC’s website(s) and Intranet including coordination planning, content process and development, monitoring and metrics

  • Manage email marketing including planning, developing, and sending emails, updating and managing subscriber lists, and evaluating campaigns

  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies and campaigns for the blog, and write and publish blog posts

  • Collaborate with teams to support event(s) and webinar marketing, materials, and outreach campaigns/strategies

  • Ensure consistency of Intranet content and strategy across digital assets, links, and forms

  • Manage and triage internal requests for support via ZenDesk

  • Monitor trends and analytics within the MarComm internal data dashboard

  • Develop toolkits, FAQs, walkthroughts, samples and other training materials for internal communications campaigns

  • Support the development of engaging content for new hire onboarding

  • Support intentional engagement opportunities for staff to connect as a community

  • Strategize ways to leverage diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace and through the stories we tell

A Day in the Life

  • Work with the Senior Director of Partnerships and Development to craft a story and presentation for funder stewardship and engagement

  • Build out content, copy, and graphics using templates to schedule two-week intervals of social content

  • Monitor social channels and actively engage in key sector conversations

  • Build and disseminate an email campaign around our emerging services

  • Organize and update our editorial calendars to ensure we’re on target for pending deadlines and deliverables

  • Support the interviewing and development of internal communications pieces that promote culture, community, and connection

  • Write, review and/or provide proofreading support on content in development

  • Gather stories about staff and internal leaders on a regular basis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 2+ years of experience as a content writer with project management and communications

  • Experience with: content management systems (i.e., WordPress, etc.), email management platforms (MailerLite), social media platforms and managers (Hootsuite), Slack, Google Suite, Zoom, and project management software (Asana)

  • Graphic design experience, particularly Adobe Creative Suite and Canva

  • Experience in event planning, logistics, and facilitation

  • Ability to prioritize and work on projects with overlapping timelines, and promptly respond to requests by a variety of stakeholders

ADA Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment

  • Limited physical effort required

  • Hearing, repetitive hand motions, sitting, talking, typing

  • Ability to travel 2-4 times per year for organizational events as needed
