JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The Independent Oversight organization is looking for an Assessor with a Training background for the River Bend Station. They will be responsible to observe, perform and document functional area performance in Training and other assigned areas (as well as support the QA lead auditor in auditing performance of functional areas. These include audits, surveillances, observations, reviews and performance analysis, as well as follow up and evaluation of effectiveness of implementation of corrective actions. Proven leadership and prior supervision in the primary assigned area is required Training). Must have demonstrated leadership, sound judgment, maturity, and analytical ability. For this particular posting, training experience desired is at the senior instructor or supervisor level preferably with a BWR-6 background. Although the initial position will be in the Independent Oversight organization, there is potential opportunity to transition to the line organization based on individual performance.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reviews site and department performance, and based on performance and risk insights, selects areas for assessment and selects plant activities for observation. Assists Manager, Nuclear Independent Oversight (NIOS) in developing assessment plans and participating in audit teams.
  • Analyzes performance indicators from various sources and develops organizational insights.
  • Effectively communicates (both verbally and written) with line managers.
  • Ensures quality and accuracy of Oversight and QA reports.
  • Assists the Lead Auditor, Supervisor and Manager in roll up of issues to identify adverse trends and attains the required qualifications and certifications prescribed in Procedure EN-QV-117; Oversight Training Program. Has familiarity with current nuclear oversight practices, codes, standards, regulations, and nuclear plant “Excellence Standards.” Is required to exercise stop work authority over non-conforming production and engineering activities that present a significant risk to plant equipment and/or personnel.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education
required of the position:
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or technical field (may be waived, based on equivalent experience).
Minimum experience
required of the position:
  • 6 years of nuclear power plant experience in the field of training or plant operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of nuclear industry regulations and experience.
  • Desired Qualifications– Previous Supervisor or Leadership Role in Training at an Operational Nuclear Facility. Experience in auditing or assessing FA performance desired but not necessary. The position is for an assessor who has relevant line experience who will eventually fill a role in the site line organization based on performance.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Nuclear and other regulatory quality/QAPM requirements.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position:
  • Desired: SRO License or Certification, or Qualification in a technical discipline (e.g., Operations, Maintenance or Engineering).
